Generally, standard roller chains are manufactured with split bushings, which are widely used in medium-load and conventional working industrial applications and offer a good balance between performance and cost.

However, for applications requiring higher fatigue strength, heavier loads, or more demanding operating environments, solid-bushing roller chains have better performance. Solid bushings provide improved structural integrity, better load distribution, and longer service life, but involve higher manufacturing complexity and cost.
