What do AL, BL, LL, and LH mean in leaf chains?
• AL/LL series-Light-duty, uses plates from standard ANSI roller chain sizes.
• BL/LH series-Heavy-duty, thicker plates from the next larger roller chain size for higher strength.
Tip: AL≈LL and BL≈LH in most applications, but always check dimensions before replacement.
Can I replace AL with BL or LL with LH?
Sometimes yes, but not always.BL/LH chains are stronger but thicker, which may not fit in your existing sprockets or sheaves. Always confirm dimensions and tensile ratings before substitution.
What materials are leaf chains made from?
Most are made from heat-treated alloy steel for maximum tensile strength and wear resistance. Stainless steel leaf chains are available for corrosion-prone environments.
