What is drop forged chain?
Drop forged conveyor chains, also referred to as drop forged scraper chains, are integral components in bulk material handling systems. They are utilized for transporting various products like grain, coal, and ash. These chains are specially designed with specific flights or attachments to suit different applications and ensure efficient material handling.
What is the difference between forged and drop forged?
Drop forging - Hammering hot metal into dies. Press forging - instead of forcing hot metal into a die with a hammer blow, it is pressed into the die with hydraulic pressure. Roll forging - The hot metal is pressed between two rollers.
Is drop forged steel stronger?
Drop forging indeed results in parts that are stronger compared to cast parts due to the forging process. When metal is subjected to the force of a hammer or press during drop forging, it undergoes plastic deformation, causing the grains within the metal to realign and compact more tightly. This creates a more uniform grain structure throughout the part, enhancing its strength and integrity. Additionally, drop forging helps eliminate any voids or porosity in the metal, further enhancing its mechanical properties. As a result, drop forged parts exhibit superior strength, toughness, and resistance to fatigue and impact, making them ideal for applications where reliability and durability are paramount.
