CTS® #40H Roller Chain
CTS ANSI #40H heavy-duty roller chain is a 12.7mm (1/2-inch) pitch chain built to ANSI B29.1, with thicker link plates and stronger pins than standard #40. Fully interchangeable with other ANSI-certified 40H chains and compatible with #40/#40H sprockets, it is designed for high-load and abrasive working conditions.

Both #40 and #40H chains have a pitch of 12.70 mm; the side plate thickness in #40H is greater. This added material provides the chain with enhanced resistance to fatigue and stretching, particularly under fluctuating or impact-heavy loads.
Additionally, heavy-duty chains generally weigh more per meter and may slightly increase inertia in high-speed systems. However, this trade-off is often acceptable in exchange for much greater durability and longer operational life.
