The Challenge
Why Off-the-Shelf Sprockets Can’t Handle Wastewater
Water treatment plants operate 24/7 in one of the most punishing environments for power transmission components. Standard industrial sprockets — designed for clean, dry conditions — fail prematurely when exposed to the realities of treatment plant service. Here is what makes this industry different.
Continuous Corrosive Exposure
Submerged or semi-submerged in screened effluent, chemically dosed water, and corrosive sludge. Carbon steel sprockets rust rapidly; stainless steel is not a luxury — it is a requirement for acceptable service life.
Fibrous & Abrasive Debris
Wastewater carries rags, fibrous material, sand, and grit that wrap around hubs, jam tooth spaces, and accelerate wear. Standard tooth profiles are not designed for this — custom geometry is often necessary to shed debris rather than accumulate it.
Minimal Maintenance Windows
Treatment plants cannot shut down for extended periods. A sprocket replacement that requires shaft disassembly can mean 8-12 hours of downtime. Designs that enable rapid field service are not optional — they directly impact plant availability.
Non-Standard Drive Systems
Treatment equipment frequently uses engineered-class chains (M-series, heavy-duty scraper profiles) with non-standard pitches, tooth counts, and hub dimensions. Standard catalog sprockets rarely match — custom engineering is the rule, not the exception.

AISI 304 Stainless Steel
Standard grade for most wastewater applications. Excellent corrosion resistance in municipal effluent, storm water, and mildly chemical environments. Cost-effective for general duty.

AISI 316L Stainless Steel
Enhanced with molybdenum for superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. Recommended for high-chloride environments, chemical dosing areas, saltwater exposure, and aggressive industrial effluent.

Duplex & Super Duplex

Carbon Steel + Coating

Solid Sprockets

Lower Drive Sprocket for Multi-Rake Screening System
We designed and manufactured a custom fabricated multi-piece sprocket for Sulzer MevaScreen® MRS — one example of how our engineering approach solves real-world maintenance and reliability challenges.
Fabricated Sprocket for Heavy-Duty Multi-Rake Bar Screen
The challenge: The Sulzer MevaScreen MRS — a multi-rake coarse/fine screen designed for channel widths up to 3,000 mm and discharge heights up to 20 meters — used a one-piece lower drive sprocket that required complete drive-end disassembly for replacement. In a confined channel installation, each replacement meant 8–12 hours of downtime.
Our solution: We engineered a multi-piece fabricated sprocket — three flat sprocket plates mounted on an independent hub using eight M16 A4-80 through-bolts with nylon-insert lock nuts. The design allows individual plate replacement, and the entire assembly can be serviced without disturbing the shaft, bearings, or chain guide.

Every sprocket we ship is backed by full material traceability, independent third-party certification, and documented quality control at every manufacturing stage.
EN 10204 Type 3.1 Certification
Mill-origin material certificate with full chemical composition and mechanical property data. Third-party verified where required.
Certified Composition & Properties
Every heat number documented — C, Si, Mn, Cr, Ni, Mo verified. Yield, tensile, elongation, and hardness tested per ASTM/EN/GB standards.
Dimensional Inspection
Tooth spacing, PCD, bore concentricity, split-joint fit, keyway tolerance, and surface finish checked per drawing. Inspection report included with every order.
DIN/ISO Standard Hardware
All fasteners to DIN 933 / DIN 985 / DIN 125A. A4-80 stainless steel as standard for corrosive environments. Nylon-insert lock nuts for vibration resistance.
Intergranular Corrosion Test
Optional GB/T 4334 Method E / ASTM A262 testing for stainless steel grades. Ensures material is properly solution-annealed and free of sensitization.
Surface & Heat Treatment
Solution-annealed and pickled (1D/No.1) as standard. Optional induction-hardened tooth flanks, DLC coating, or passivation for extended service life.
