Cottered Roller Chains
ANSI Cottered Roller Chain
Some roller chain applications require that the chain be able to be assembled and disassembled in the field, rather than using the "grind and punch" method. In this case, we recommend the use of Cottered type roller chains. Cottered Roller Chains use a cotter pin on one side of the chain, unlike standard roller chains which use a "rivet".
CTS® Cottered Roller Chains are manufactured to the same ANSI B29.1standards and dimensions as Rivet Type Roller Chains, except that the rivets are replaced with open ends. The main advantage of cotter roller chains is that they are easy to cut, which is why most cottered roller chains come in larger ANSI chain sizes.
